IASTM “Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization,” is a manual therapy approach to musculoskeletal injuries using ergonomically designed tools, usually made of stainless steel.  As a manual therapist, I rely on my hands often when assisting patients.  IASTM works to compliment my hands by adding another layer of assessing your soft tissue injuries more precisely.  IASTM works to promote proper tissue healing by encouraging increased blood flow to the injured area.  These tools assist in breaking up excessive scar tissue formation and work to improve limited range of motion due to restrictions or pain.
